Ecopack Bulgaria and Panagyurishte Municipality organized a show where children learned to sort waste and properly dispose of it in the recycling containers

Panagyurishte, 29 May, 2019

More than 420 children from Panagyurishte gathered together in the theatre hall for the performance of the educational puppet show “A Tale of Brave Little Empty-Bellied Heroes” by the Fairy Tale Theater – Sofia. The puppet characters from the park, Hartoyad, Plastoyadka, and Stukloyad, told the children how to sort waste and which kind goes into which color-coded container. The play teaches children that waste can be recycled and brought to new life. Everyone danced with the characters from the show, took part in a waste sorting competition, and in the end left with gifts – coloring books and magnets with the puppet show characters.

Raya, aged 6, promised to teach her family how to properly dispose of different types of waste in the different color containers. And Monica, aged 5, was quite positive: “It can’t be clean unless we all keep it so and throw our trash in the color containers.”

The performance was part of the spring tour of the Fairy Tale Theater – Sofia, under the Ecopack initiative “Feed Me Separately! “. It takes place in partnership with the municipalities of Botevgrad, Svoge, Tutrakan, Pleven, Pravets, Panagyurishte, Teteven, Peshtera, and Strelcha. In a manner and language accessible to children, the show raises the issue of the responsibility of each inhabitant of the Earth for the protection of nature. This is part of the mission of Ecopack Bulgaria – to educate the young so that the message can be passed on to the adults. Because children are the best ambassadors of the green idea and often help form good habits among adults.

The educational puppet show “A Tale of Brave Little Empty-Bellied Heroes” has been touring Bulgarian cities for five consecutive years. Over this period, the actors from the Fairy Tale Theater have taught over 7,650 children aged 4-8 how to collect waste separately.

The next performance of the puppet show “A Tale of Brave Little Empty-Bellied Heroes” is scheduled for May 30, 2019, 10h30, on the open stage in the town of Peshtera (in the event of bad weather, at the Community Center in the town square).
