Pazardzhik, April 17, 2019

On Wednesday, April 17th, starting at 11 o’clock in the Municipality Plenary Hall, Ms. Gergana Tabakova, Head of Education Directorate Pazardzhik, announced the results of the Recycling Challenge competition among students and teachers.

The initiative of ECOPACK Bulgaria and Pazardzhik Municipality aims to encourage separate waste collection in town, the protection of the environment, and the formation of enduring recycling habits among the students and their families.

The campaign was launched on March 12 and is targeted at all local students and teachers. Its duration is one month and comprises two stages: Stage I – a competition among student classes for the largest amount of plastic packaging waste collected; Stage II – a competition for the most active school, with the highest number of environmental lessons delivered.

A total of 3,100 students from 17 schools competed for the prizes. Within the campaign, more than 4,500 kg of plastic packaging waste were collected and 107 environmental lessons were delivered with materials provided on the ECOPACK Bulgaria online platform.

Ms. Tabakova: “The winning school in this intense competition truly demonstrated remarkable results, as the students had been taught three different lessons each.”
Mr. Kozhuharov, representative of the Municipality, shared that “this is a wonderful initiative that teaches us how to make our environment cleaner, teaches the children what not to do and that they shouldn’t throw trash everywhere. Big thanks to the teachers who took an active part in the second, educational stage of the campaign, which is also the most important one.” Mr. Kozhuharov presented the winners in the first stage with their prizes.

First prize: BGN 500 went to class 1v, Vassil Levski School;

Second prize: BGN 300 went to class 2v, Vassil Levski School;
