More than 300 Children in Veliko Turnovo Take Part in Eco Training

On 11th May more than 300 children from Veliko Turnovo kindergartens took part in educational games about separate packaging waste collection. The event organized by ECOPACK Bulgaria and Veliko Turnovo Municipality was part of the campaign “Feed Me Separately!”, held for the second consecutive year. The aim of the initiative is to acquaint the children with the problems of the environment and the separate packaging waste collection.

Says Mariana Petkova, ECOPACK Bulgaria PR Manager, “Children demonstrate great interest in separate waste collection. In this respect, we should give due credit to their teachers, as well. I believe that with the joint efforts of institutions, parents and packaging waste recovery organizations we will be able to foster lasting eco-friendly habits and attitudes.”

Before the games the children enjoyed a puppet show featuring the three special animal characters Paper-eater, Plastic-eater, and Glass-eater. The play created by ECOPACK Bulgaria and the Fairytale Theater Sofia tells the story of three young animals who live in the park and feed on packaging waste. The three characters are also featured on some of the ECOPACK containers located in the vicinity of the parks in town.

Their story is told in a children’s comic book available on the Kids Section on the ECOPACK website. The children can also test their knowledge about recycling in a fun online game.

The next stop of the puppet show is in Plovdiv on May 20th.
