With Order № RD - 411/26.04.2013 of the Minister of Environment and Waters – Mr. Julian Popov, were recognized the fulfillment of the recovery and recycling targets of ECOPACK’s members for 2012. Here you can find the detailed text and a list of members.
Once again in 2012, ECOPACK reasserted its leading position amongst the packaging waste recovery organizations with 44,5 % market share.
In 2012 ECOPACK’s clients declared 130 683 tons of packaging which is 2.72% more compared to the last year. ECOPACK submitted for recycling and recovery 70 450 tons of packaging as follows: 36 295 tons of paper, 17 905 tons of glass, 8 813 tons of plastic, 3 819 tons of metal and 3 618 tons of wood. The total recycled amount is 53,91% of the declared packaging quantity with the regulatory requirement being 52%.
In this way, thanks to its clients and partners, ECOPACK contributed to the nature’s protection and efficient use of resources by saving 471 000 trees,62,3 kwh of electro energy, 1159 million liters of drinking water and decreasing with 145 cubic meters the volume of landfilled waste.
In 2012 ECOPACK continued to invest in the separate collection systems by placing and servicing 20142 color containers in 92 municipalities with total population of 2 870 343 million inhabitants. The Organization’s expense decrease depends on the separate collection systems efficiency. Therefore ECOPACK is focusing its efforts on the optimization of the systems and implementation of new technological solutions and best European practices.
At the end of2012 the Organization implemented an integrated system of quality management and environmental protection and is certified to BSS EN ISO 9001:2008 and BSS EN ISO 14001:2005.
ECOPACKcontinues to work on the development of a GPS system, which includes marking containers and transport vehicles that started in2012 in Sofia. Also in 2012, continued the replacement of green containers for glass packaging "chest" type with an "igloo" type. Analyses based on observations in previous years proved that in the” igloo” containers are collected higher percentage pure packaging waste.
