The ‘Bourgas Recycles’ program, initiated by Hamalogika Association and the Freinet Center for Innovative Education, will be held for the third consecutive year in April and May 2016. The initiative aims to foster awareness and commitment to preserving the environment and to teach young children to collect waste separately. A charitable element has been incorporated this year to help children develop a sense of compassion and caring. Program partners include Bourgas Municipality, ECOPACK Bulgaria, and various media.
The program runs over three school periods and comprises presentations about the goals and benefits of recycling, how it is done and what technologies are applied, games and competitions for practical application of the knowledge gained, alternative uses of waste materials, etc.
The program will conclude in mid-May with a final open-air event. All of the children and parents will be invited to attend and to join the organizers in cleaning up one of the nearby parks or beaches. The specific location is yet to be determined.
Volunteers who would like to join the campaign either by telling the children why they recycle or by participating in the final event are welcome to write to: firstname.lastname@example.org
