Entrants also included municipalities, state-owned enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and even startups.
ECOPACK Bulgaria came out first in the Recycling Industry and Waste Management category. The company earned its award not only with its professional operation and market leader position I Bulgaria, but also with its BGN 2.5 million investment in Bulgaria’s first-of-its-kind glass color-sorting facility, which has the capacity to process 100 tons of glass packaging a day.
“Glass is the easiest material to recycle and one bottle truly makes another new bottle. Yet if left out in the environment, it would take thousands of years to decompose,” said ECOPACK Bulgaria Executive Director Todor Bourgoudjiev at the awards ceremony.
