The campaign "Let's Clean Bulgaria" continued after the big cleaning on April 20. From July 13 to 20 was organized the first regional summer campaign to clean the Stara Planina Mountain. More than 3 000 volunteers participated in the mountain campaign and most of them were in areas of Etropole, Gabrovo and Veliko Tarnovo. On the last day of the initiative to clean the Stara Planina were conducted simultaneously eight campaigns and those who cleaned in the weekend were about 800 people. Although that the areas were located at an average altitude of 1 500 to 2 000 meters, requiring transitions of not less than 2 hours, the involved volunteers managed to collect more than 160 tons of waste.
ECOPACK supported the initiative by providing bags and gloves to the partner municipalities - Etropole, Sopot, Elena and Veliko Tarnovo.
Association "For the Earth" cleaned from high places in the Central Balkan region another 21 tons of waste, of which 8.3 tons of metal and 1.3 tons of construction waste. Over 150 people joined forces and specialized skills to clear the difficult to reach chalets Sokolna, Ambaritsa, Pleven and Tazha, the shelters Botev and Marinka, the Botev and the Triglav (Golemiya Kademliya) peaks across the Central Balkan National Park.
The volunteers from the Association "For the Earth" called for a change in the attitude of each of us towards the waste by the message "The trash in the bag”, as well as for cooperation and understanding between the responsible institutions such as the Ministry of Environment and Water, parks departments, BTS, chalet hosts and others working in the park.
The next major cleaning campaign is planned for the period August 3 to 11, when the campaign “Let's Clean Bulgaria" will be transferred to the Bulgarian Black Sea coast.
