Dear friends, our Competition for School Students of All Ages: An Empty Carton Is Full of Natural Resources is now over. It was intended for students from Bourgas, Plovdiv, and Sofia and there were more than 250 participants from more than 20 schools!
Most of the projects competing in the first category – Useful Things Workshop – were truly amazing. We are showing you some of the most interesting ones so that everyone who cares about nature may benefit and may try and make something beautiful and useful out of an empty juice or milk carton.
An expert jury with members from ECOPACK and DeConi has awarded the following prizes:
Useful Things Workshop Category:
- 1st Prize – Velina Valentinova Miteva, grade 6, 12th Secondary School ‘Tzar Ivan-Assen II’, Sofia – a jewelry box;
- 2nd Prize – Kristian Dimitro Butchvarov, grade 2, Elementary School ‘Kliment Ohridski’, Bourgas – a pencil box, bird feeder, helmet, cell phone stand.
- 3rd Prize – Ivan Atanassov, grade 3, Elementary School ‘Georgi Benkovski’, Plovdiv – a recycling installation.
The special prize for the project using the largest number of cartons went to Hakan Zafer Sabit, age 10, grade 6, 22nd Secondary School ‘G.S.Rakovski’, Sofia.
Because we received so many nonstandard projects, a special prize for most active participation has been awarded to the students from ‘Sv. S. Cyrill and Methodius’ (Bourgas) and ‘G.S. Benkovski’ (Sofia) schools. They will receive special certificates and containers for separate waste collection. Thanks to the children from grade 3a, ‘Sv. S. Cyrill and Methodius’ school in Bourgas for the wonderful fairy tales they sent us. We were equally moved by the original poem submitted by the students from grade 2v at Elementary School ‘P.R.Slaveykov’ in Bourgas. An individual consolation prize has been awarded to Martina Stoeva, grade 3, Elementary School ‘Naiden Gerov’, Bourgas, for her robot rabbit since no 3rd prize winner was designated in the category ‘Benefits of Beverage Carton Recycling’.
‘Benefits of Beverage Carton Recycling’ category:
- 1st Prize – Eva Darinova Yordanova, grade 8, 22nd Secondary School ‘G.S. Rakovski’, Sofia;
- 2nd Prize – Yanislav Vladimirov Stoyanov, grade 6, Elementary School ‘Bratya Miladinovi’, Bourgas;
- 3rd Prize – not awarded.
In this category, two of the presentations were very good and the rest did not comply with the set topic areas. A piece of advice from the jury: carefully check the facts you use in support of your ideas and arguments. If they are false, they may lead you in the wrong direction. On the ECOPACK website. In Wikipedia, and many other Internet sites you can find a wealth of reliable information concerning separate packaging waste collection and recycling and the conservation of the environment.
Thank you to all participants! Keep collecting waste separately together with ECOPACK and don’t stop thinking and caring about nature.
