Children in Aitos learn how to collect used packaging separately together with puppet characters

02.05.2018

ECOPACK organized a children’s event at the Aitos open stage

The free environmentally-themed puppet show (“A Tale of Brave Little Empty-Bellied Heroes”) brought together 250 children from kindergartens and schools at the open stage in the center of Aitos. The young audience met the well-loved puppet characters Hartoyad (“paper eater”), Plastoyadka (“plastic eater”), and Stukloyad (“glass eater”), who showed them how to take care of the environment by throwing out used packaging in the proper containers.
After the performance the children were given the chance to “feed separately” the three color-coded ECOPACK containers by applying what they had learned from the educational play and sorting different kinds of used packaging.  They danced together with the characters and received as gifts magnets and comic coloring books telling their story.
The educational play is about three funny little creatures who live in the park and feed on different types of used packaging.
The characters are featured in the “Feed Me Separately!” Campaign and are familiar from the ECOPACK color-coded waste containers.
This year’s spring tour of the theater troupe includes 8 cities: Silistra, Dulovo, Shumen, Hissarya, Pazardzhik, Aitos, Karnobat, and Sapareva Banya. The puppet show has been touring the country for four years already and the first performance was in Sofia on April 26th, 2015. Since then the actors from the Fairy Tale Theater have taught more than 4,500 children aged 4-8, from 22 towns across the country, to collect and dispose of packaging waste separately. Once they get to know the story of the three funny little characters, who make sure the parks stay clean, kids become devoted fans of packaging recycling and in turn start teaching their friends and even their parents.
The children’s event was organized by ECOPACK Bulgaria in partnership with Aitos Municipality.
