On February 27th, 2014, a press conference was held at Burgas Municipality, where ECOPACK presented its latest education an awareness campaign entitled ‘An Empty Carton is Full of Natural Resources’. It is part of the pilot project for the separation and recycling of beverage cartons.
ECOPACK Bulgaria, in cooperation with three municipalities – Burgas, Sofia, and Plovdiv – has launched a new beverage carton separation and recycling project. The goal of the project is to reduce landfill waste and increase the amount of separately collected and recycled beverage cartons. Besides the three pilot municipalities, in the implementation of this project ECOPACK is supported by the world’s leading manufacturer of beverage cartons – Tetra Pak. The success of the project calls for the involvement both of the companies using such packaging to market their products and of the consumers on whom the separate collection of such packaging waste in the blue containers.
A special consumer-targeted awareness campaign has been developed to promote this project. The Carrefour and Kaufland retail networks have joined the campaign in all three cities. Starting on March 3rd, for a period of 14 days, information brochures will be made available at special stands in 9 participating stores. Shoppers will be able to learn about the benefits of separate collection and recycling of beverage cartons.
