On 5 June, the World Environment Day, Daniel Panov, the Mayor of Veliko Tarnovo, and Todor Burgudzhiev, CEO of ECOPACK Bulgaria, officially inaugurated the new playground in the yard of the Evgenia Kisimova kindergarten. The director, Ms. Ivanova, welcomed the guests and the children from kindergarten gave a performance.
After the official ceremony, the children from kindergartens in Veliko Turnovo gathered at the Nadezhda Community Centre, where they watched the eco puppet performance "Tale of heros of empty bellies: Paper-eater, Plastic-eater and Glass-eater in the park."
To improve the efficiency of separate collection of packaging waste in the town of Veliko Tarnovo, ECOPACK replaced entirely the colored containers in the town and placed 320 igloo-type containers worth BGN 192,000. A specialized new vehicle was provided to maintain the system. The new containers are not only more beautiful, but also significantly more efficient and environmentally friendly. This type of containers makes it more difficult to dispose of household and construction waste and limit contamination outside the containers. Practice has shown that the quality of the collected waste is over twice higher compared to the containers currently in use.
One of the main objectives of ECOPACK Bulgariais by improving the efficiency of separate collection and by organising active awareness-raising campaigns to make the town of Veliko Tarnovo cleaner and greener.
